Please come out to vote from 3PM to 9PM at the Firehouse. .
I have been a Pound Ridge resident for 38 years. For 26 of those years I have been a volunteer firefighter. For 20+ of those years, I was a district fire commissioner. All of these positions, like those of our members, are unpaid volunteer service. As one of 5 commissioners, our job was to make sure that the department had what it needed to protect our residents, while being mindful of your tax dollars. For most of those years, there either was NO tax increase, or the increase was so small as to be unnoticeable. Now we need your help. Our last major work on the firehouse was over 30 years ago. You have already generously approved a 6.5 million dollar bond for the purpose of updating and expanding our firehouse to meet current and future needs, but, in the end, costs and the economy have outstripped our best efforts to trim every nickel from the project. Tomorrow, we are asking the people of Pound Ridge to agree to a supplemental bond of 3.5-million dollars, to not only allow us to do what needs to be done right now, but in anticipation of another 30 years of service. The new bond will add just an average of $80 to the already approved increase, bringing the total average yearly tax increase to $273 for 24/7/365 protection. Please help support us by voting YES in tomorrow's bond referendum. The vote is from 3p to 9p at the firehouse. With thanks, Justin Friedland P.S.- happy to answer questions if you have them. |
